Xiaomi is a smartphone maker that is growing every day, despite the limited presence outside Asia. Currently, the company is the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, which is a significant achievement, as the brand began selling phones outside of China just three years ago.

Impressively, of course, and it seems that Xiaomi is going to keep pace with such companies as Apple and Samsung, in the higher circles of the smartphone market. The company has overtaken Samsung to become the largest smartphone brand in India at the end of last year and is slowly moving to European markets.

Although many may have heard this name, phones are still relatively foreign to many in the West. If you are interested in purchasing a Xiaomi phone or just interested in a brand, here is the list of phones that you need to know about.

    Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S

On paper, Mi MIX 2S does not disappoint, but everything that Xiaomi says about the phone can be confirmed only after real use. According to the Chinese OEM, the Mi MIX 2S is much better than the Apple iPhone X, but it is valued at half the price of Apple’s flagship phone.

    Characteristics of Mi MIX 2S

    • Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
    • 6 / 8GB RAM and 64/128 / 256GB options
    • Dual 12MP + 12MP dual-pixel main camera with artificial intelligence and 5MP front camera
    • Battery for 3400mAh
    • Android 8.0 Oreo with MIUI 9.5 shell
    • In addition: Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, Quick Charge 3.0, wireless charging of the Qi standart, voice assistant with artificial intelligence, and others.

    Xiaomi Mi MIX 2

You should like the frameless Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Whether it’s design, specifications, features or even price, Mi MIX 2 is the best Xiaomi smartphone. There is even a gilded version with 18 carat gold, but it is expensive. The main features of the Mi MIX 2 include a 5.99-inch Full HD + screen (18: 9), Snapdragon 835, 6 GB of RAM, 64/128/256 GB storage, a 12-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel self-camera, a 3400 mAh battery and running Android Nougat out of the box, but Oreo is already testing. You can even buy a special edition of Mi MIX 2, which has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory. At the launch, Mi MIX 2 cost about $ 520 for the base model and about $ 570 and $ 630 for 6 / 128GB and 6 / 256GB variants respectively.

    Xiaomi Mi 6

Announced in April 2017, Xiaomi Mi 6 is the second after Mi MIX 2, in the main line of smartphones Xiaomi. Mi 6 comes with a dual 12-megapixel shooter in the back with an 8-megapixel lens for selfie. Despite the small 5.15-inch Full HD screen, the Mi 6 has a decent battery for 3350 mAh. Xiaomi Mi 6 is cheaper than a bunch of other flagship Android phones with similar specifications. Mi 6 can be yours for about $ 400 for the base model of 4/64 GB.

    Xiaomi Mi A1

If Mi Mix 2 is innovative for its equipment, Mi A1 is innovative for its software. The first phone from Xiaomi does not launch MIUI, and the Chinese manufacturer cooperates with Google on the Android One platform. As a result, you get a device with the Xiaomi design language and the vision of Google software. The fact that the device costs less than $ 250 is a lamb on the cake.

Mi A1 has an excellent design with antenna stripes running on the top and bottom of the phone from the rear, and the aluminum case gives it an excellent appearance. The phone also has two 12-megapixel rear cameras with the same configuration as the Mi 6: a wide-angle lens, supplemented with a telephoto lens for 2x optical zoom.

    Xiaomi Mi A1

Other specifications include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, a microSD slot, a 5-megapixel front shooter, a 3.5 mm jack and a 3080 mAh battery that is charged via USB-C.

During the first two months of the Mi A1, Xiaomi released two updates, providing the latest security patch. The phone is set to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update before the end of the year, and it is expected that it will be in the first wave of devices to get the Android P update as soon as it becomes available. Mi A1 is widely available, and Xiaomi starts sales in all markets in which it is currently present. In India, the device is sold on Flipkart for 14,999. In China, on the Internet sites it can be bought for $ 200-210.

    Xiaomi Mi Max 2

Mi Max was an unexpected hit for Xiaomi, so the company released an updated version with the best design and updated interiors. A large 6.44-inch screen in combination with a massive battery makes Mi Max 2 a multimedia powerhouse.

With the latest iteration, Xiaomi switched to a single design with antenna lines from the rear and made the edges rounded to simplify the device hold. The phone is not designed for use with one hand, but it’s better if you look next to Mi Max.

    Xiaomi Mi Max 2
Mi Max 2 is equipped with 6.44-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625, 4 GB of RAM, internal storage of 64 GB / 128 GB, microSD card slot, 12-megapixel camera, 5 megapixel front camera and a huge battery with a capacity of 5300 mAh , which is designed to provide at least two days of full work.

The exceptional size of the Mi Max 2 makes it a niche device, but if you are looking for a phone with a large screen and classy battery life on the market, today there is no better device.

Advantages of Xiaomi Mi Max 2

    • Sturdy construction
    • Excellent video watch and read
    • 5300mAh rechargeable battery
    • Impressive main camera
    • A fairly fast and accurate fingerprint scanner
    • Good stereo sound
    • Intermediate front camera

Disadvantages of Xiaomi Mi Max 2

    • MIUI 8 is not the best, but MIUI 9 is on the way
    • Too big for some pockets
    • No 800 MHz support for 4G connection

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

Xiaomi introduced Redmi Note 5 Pro in India back in February, and it’s safe to say that the device is the best budget phone. Much of what makes the Redmi Note 5 Pro so beautiful is reduced to hardware: it’s the first phone in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 636 from Qualcomm, and the performance is staggering.

The Snapdragon 636 itself is a closed version of the Snapdragon 660, which is visible on devices that cost three times more than the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Other specifications include up to 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, as well as dual camera settings from the rear. This camera is also interesting, as it is one of the best in the budget segment right now.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

For the equivalent of $ 220, there really is not a device that offers as much as Redmi Note 5 Pro. The phone is available through weekly sales in India, with a base version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory available for Rs. 13.999.  The version with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory is sold for 16,999 rupees (260 US dollars).

Given that offered with the device, Redmi Note 5 Pro is the absolute winner. Xiaomi is the king of the budget segment, and strong sales of Redmi Note 4 last year allowed the brand to overtake Samsung. With Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Chinese manufacturer intends to consolidate its position in India.

Advantages  of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

    • Impressive display
    • Great camera
    • Powerful processor
    • Excellent battery life
    • Affordable price

Disadvantages of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

    • Android Nougat out of the box
    • Problematic to buy
    • MicroUSB Port
    • No support for LTE 20 (800 MHz)

    Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus

If you feel that Redmi Note 5 Pro is too expensive, Xiaomi has another excellent smartphone Redmi 5 Plus. The natural successor to the popular Redmi 4, you basically get the same unit with a new design language, moreover, the front panel. Redmi Note 5 has a 5.99-inch Full HD + display, Snapdragon 625, 3/4 GB RAM, 32/64 GB of permanent memory, a 12-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel front camera and a similar huge 4000 mAh battery. At the moment, Redmi 5 Plus is available for about $ 150 for the base model and $ 170 for the 4 / 64GB version.

Advantages of Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus

    • Large screen 18: 9
    • Excellent performance
    • Long-lasting battery
    • A good camera
    • Fast fingerprint scanner
    • Excellent value for money and quality

Disadvantages of Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus

    • Android Nougat out of the box
    • Still using microUSB port
    • No NFC
    • No support for LTE 20

    Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Redmi 5A differs in that it is the most affordable phone to date, Xiaomi, and the phone is sold for $ 100. Xiaomi achieved great success with Redmi 4A, and it did not change the formula with Redmi 5A much: you get the same basic equipment, but a lower price means that the phone will be available to a wider audience.

Redmi 5A is aimed at the Indian market, where the base version with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of memory is sold for only $ 4999. This is 1,000 rupees ($ 15) less than the Redmi 4A, and although this price is limited to the first five million units, Xiaomi’s decision to sell the device for 5,000 Indian rupees should give the brand an extra push when it comes to sales figures.

    Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Features of the Redmi 5A include a 5.0-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 425, 2GB / 3GB of RAM, 16GB / 32GB of internal memory, a dedicated microSD slot, two SIM slots, a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front shooter and 3000 mAh battery. In terms of software, the phone starts MIUI 9 out of the box.

    Advantages of Xiaomi Redmi 5A

    • Excellent build
    • Powerful specifications for a budget phone
    • Excellent battery life
    • The best ratio of price and quality
    • Middle Camera

    Disadvantages of Xiaomi Redmi 5A

    • Android Nougat out of the box
    • No quick charge
    • No band LTE 20 (800 MHz)

    Xiaomi Mi Max 3

If you are looking for a phone with a lot of battery power, the Mi Max series makes sense. Mi Max 3 should introduce a newer display with a ratio of 18: 9, and thanks to this we will see a much smaller bezel on the top and bottom of the phone’s panel. Will Xiaomi maintain the display size unchanged at an already-quite large 6.4-6.5 inches and match it in a relatively smaller body? Or would they keep the size of the smartphone like last year and use a frameless design to give us a 6.8? 7.0-inch phone?

    Xiaomi Mi Max 3

Approximate technical specifications of Xiaomi Mi Max 3

    • Android 8.1 is preinstalled with MIUI 9 (suitable for updating MIUI 10)
    • Snapdragon 660 Processor
    • 3/4 GB of RAM with 32/64 GB memory
    • Dual cameras behind

    Xiaomi Mi 7

Mi-series from Xiaomi – wonderful, but at the moment Mi 7 took a step back with the announcement of Mi Mix 2S. Not that the release of Mi 7 was in doubt, but at the moment the focus is shifted towards updating Mi Mix 2 in the form of Mi Mix 2S. In any case, we expect that Mi 7 will become a frameless phone, which we always wanted. But will he have a mono-eye? This is something that remains to be seen. You can not argue that the specification of this device will be some sort of stoop, but hey, since it’s a given, we are looking forward to what the Mi 7 looks like, and its additional feature set, plus its cost (will it be better than OnePlus 6?) .

    Specifications of Xiaomi Mi 7

    • 6-inch display
    • Frameless design
    • No built-in fingerprint sensor on the screen
    • Snapdragon 845 Chipset
    • RAM 6/8 GB with internal storage 64/8 128 GB

So, do you buy a Xiaomi phone? Which, if so? And if not, why? Let us know in your comments below. We really want to hear your thoughts on this.
