How to Enable Full Screen Widgets in Windows 11

While Microsoft has announced the next big Windows 11 2022 update, it has also released a new build on the Dev channel. The Redmond giant is experimenting wildly with new features on the Dev channel. One such feature is the full screen widget bar, but it is still hidden by the feature checkbox. However, there is a great way to enable the fullscreen widget bar in Windows 11. So if you are on the latest Dev build, you can enable fullscreen widgets on your Windows 11 PC right away. On that note, let's move on to the tutorial.

I tested the full screen widget bar on Windows 11 Dev Build (25201 or later) and it worked flawlessly. However, the same command didn't work on Windows 11 22H2 update, which is rolling out to all users. As such, those in the stable channel need to wait for this feature to launch in the future or join the Windows Insider program.

Enable Full Screen Widget Board in Windows 11

For now, Insiders of the Windows 11 Dev Channel can enable full-screen widgets right away, and here's how to do it:

1. First of all, you need to set up ViVeTool on your Windows 11 PC. If you don't know, ViVeTool is a free and open source tool that allows you to enable experimental features in Windows 11. So download ViVeTool from the developer's website. GitHub page .

2. After that, unzip the ZIP file in Windows 11 by right clicking on it. Then select the "Extract All" option and click "Next". The files will be extracted to a folder in the same directory.

3. After extracting the files, right-click on the extracted folder and select "Copy as path". This will copy the folder path to the clipboard.

4. Now press the Windows key to open the start menu and search for "CMD". The command line will appear at the top of the search results. In the right pane, click "Run as administrator".

5. In the command prompt window that opens, type cd followed by a space. Then right-click in the CMD window to automatically paste the directory path we copied above. You can also press "Ctrl + V" to paste the address directly. Finally, press Enter and you will be taken to the ViveTool folder. Please note that the path will be different for your PC.

cd "C:UsersmearjDownloadsViVeTool-v0.3.1"

6. After navigating to the ViVeTool folder in the command prompt, run the command below to enable the full screen widget bar in Windows 11.

7. Now close the command prompt window and restart your computer. Once logged in, click the widget button in the bottom left corner or use the Windows 11 keyboard shortcut "Windows + W". Now in the upper right corner you will find the "expand" button. Press here.

8. That's it! The full screen widget bar now works seamlessly on a Windows 11 PC. You can click the Maximize button again to make it half or full screen, whichever you prefer.
